Debunking the “Affordable Care Act” Myth & the complete disregard for the 10th Amendment

ObamaCare was passed as the “Affordable Care Act”.  Now, as people are seeing their revised Health Care Plan for the first time under the new law, we are realizing just how misleading the title of that law really is…

According to a CNN Poll, only 35% of people now support ObamaCare, while 62% oppose the legislation.  That is the lowest level of support the law has seen yet, and it coincides with everyone getting information about their new 2014 health care plans at work.

This massive drop in support has to do with two major issues:

1)  People are realizing that the cost of their insurance is going up…not down

2)  People are realizing that their insurance is changing, when the President said it would not

On the issue of the cost going up, the most glaring statistic is that 42% of people now say that they will be worse off under their new Plan, which is a stunning indictment of what was supposed to increase “Affordable Care”.  In addition, despite the 35% of people who still support the legislation, only 16% admit that they will actually be better off with ObamaCare than they were previously.  That means that we are paying over $2.6 TRILLION in government funds, along with paying higher premiums on our own policies, to help only 16% of the population…

On the issue of you being able to keep your own health plan if you like it, they now estimate that 15 million people have lost their current insurance, and over 100 million people will have their work insurance altered due to the new law.  The CNN poll states that 35% of people say that they will have to change their doctor due to the implementation of ObamaCare.

The truth about ObamaCare is finally coming out, and the revolution against this overreaching legislation has just begun.  My own policy premiums did not change, but I now have to lose weight in order to recoup the financial benefits that I used to gain by performing a certain number of activities (physicals, classes, exams, etc) each year.  I believe that the 10th Amendment (“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”) should protect people from Government-mandated weight loss, but that is just me and it stems from my silly strict constructionist views that we should protect and honor the Constitution that governs this great country…

Please help us replace the current Senate and drive ObamaCare from the history books in 2014!

Duck Dynasty, Freedom of Speech, and 45 Words That Every Politician Should Read

Attention Prospective Presidential Candidates:  The First Amendment is only 45 words, please read it before making absurd comments defending an obnoxious, racist, bigot who deserves to be fired…

Yes, we are talking to you Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal

If you want to be President of this great nation, you should probably know the Bill of Rights backward and forward.  It is only 462 words, it will only take a few minutes to read.  However, even if you were exhausted by the big words, and the ramblings of people who sacrificed everything they had for this country, I assume you could at least get through the First Amendment before quitting your attempt at reading one of the most important documents ever written…

Well, you know what they say about those people who assume…

Here is the entire First Amendment, please take a moment to read along:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”

Notice how it does not say that you can be an obnoxious, racist, bigot and you are protected from being punished at work.  That is because the First Amendment stops Congress from making laws that restrict free speech, it does not give you the right to say whatever you want, whenever you want, with absolutely no consequences.  Could you imagine what type of service you would get at McDonalds if the cashier was allowed to be as rude as they wanted, because they knew that their first amendment rights would prevent them from being fired?

Phil Robertson made a stupid mistake.  No matter what job you have, but especially if you have a television show, it is probably not wise to say the things that he did about Homosexuals (roughly 4% of the population), Black People (roughly 13% of the population), and Divorced People (roughly 25% of the adult population).  The odds are that some of those people watch his show, and the odds are even higher that some of those people watch other shows on A&E.

Phil Robertson is lucky that they did not fire him.  He will be lucky if this does not turn into a Mel Gibson moment.  But most of all, he is lucky to have three uneducated Presidential Hopefuls talking about how his Freedom of Speech has been violated!

To go on National Television and blatantly mislead the public on what Freedom of Speech means is a pretty big mistake for someone who wants to become President.  To do so while defending someone who made the comments Phil Robertson did is abhorrent.

Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal owe an apology to A&E for their false allegations of Constitutional misconduct.

They owe an apology to the American people.

But most of all, they owe an apology to the 25,000 American Revolutionaries who died during the Revolutionary War that gave them the very rights that they are now misquoting in an effort to position themselves as the next President of a Nation who definitely deserves a better effort than what they are currently offering…

Obama Fails at Protecting the Bill of Rights – Grading the President on 5 of the Amendments

I recently wrote a tweet stating “President Obama, there are only 45 words in the 1st amendment, please take sixty seconds to review it.”  It was obviously written a little tongue-in-cheek, targeting Obama for his recent attacks on the free press.  After that, I decided that people might be interested in his grades so far on protecting our Bill of Rights:

1st Amendment – F      Free Speech

Obama has not only had reporters investigated, but he has threatened to charge a respected Fox News reporter as a co-conspirator.  On top of that, he has had the IRS target Tea Party groups in order to limit their speech during an election.

2nd Amendment – F     Gun Rights

Not much evidence is needed here, Obama’s $500 million proposal to limit 2nd Amendment rights says it all.

4th Amendment – D     Search & Seizure

We don’t know if Obama had a warrant, but e-mails are typically found to have a reasonable expectation of privacy.  Obama likely used the ECPA and several NSLs to get around the 4th Amendment, therefore we are giving him a “D” for creatively undermining our rights in a way that he wouldn’t be found guilty.

5th Amendment – A     Right to Remain Silent

Lois Lerner invoked the 5th Amendment when Congress tried to question her on the IRS Scandal…guess she has something to hide.  At least Obama is respecting one of the Amendments in the Bill of Rights!

6th Amendment – F     Civil Right For Anyone Accused of a Crime

Obama’s team has killed 4 U.S. Citizens with attack drones.  I would not have a problem with that if they were in the middle of a hostile action, or if they had been convicted of a crime and sentenced to death, or if they were involved in a capture mission that went wrong…but none of these were the case.  The killing of American Citizens without a trial is the act of terrorists, not Presidents.

The bottom line is that the more we learn about the AP Scandal, the Fox News Scandal, the IRS Scandal, the Benghazi Scandal, etc etc etc….the more it should become apparent that Obama is not protecting the rights that Thomas Jefferson described as “is what the people are entitled to against every government, and what no just government should refuse, or rest on inference”.
